Happy Holidays From AWA
Happy Holidays friends of AWA!
As we complete another circumnavigation around the sun we take a moment to reflect on the past year- its been a big one!
It has been an honor to have you with us throughout this past season and with your help we have reached amazing milestones. Let’s remember a few together.
The ever popular “Learn to Sail” programs booked in only a couple of days. Through our partnership with Anacortes Parks and Rec we were able to offer more weeks of youth program than in recent years. Over 60 youth were impacted this year.
Adult Learn to Sail programs were officially reinstated and 15 new sailors were introduced to our wonderful waterfront.
Easy and affordable waterfront access was provided for more than 40 small boats- sailboats, rowboats, and kayaks alike.
The head coach position for our high school sailing team was filled and a fall season was offered for the first time in many years. Students attended multiple regattas and weekly practices amounting to a 10 month team sailing program.
New boats have been acquired to facilitate the growth of our waterfront programs. Sustainable fleet replacement programs are being developed for future needs.
Our membership base has doubled giving us more contact with with the greater community.
As a result of these efforts- we are making leaps and bounds toward meeting the waterfront needs of our community and fostering a healthy maritime culture. We can’t wait to do it all again next year!
So, what can you expect to see from us in the near future?
We will continue work to double our current program offerings
We will expand waterfront offerings with new public boating programs
We will continue to expand waterfront development and access for small boaters.
We could not have reached these goals without your partnership and support. Thank you! Please remember to renew your membership for 2019 and invite those in your community to join our cause. Future success depends on members like you!
